The Wix Lounge in NYC

The Wix Lounge

I spent the last 3 days working in New York with my buddy on our new business called Kikai Mining. We naturally don’t have an office (yet) so we wondered what the next best thing would be. He knew of a free co-working space called the Wix Lounge. We checked it out.

The Wix Lounge

The space is open 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. It’s 100% free. All you need to do is sign in and answer a quick survey. In the front are a series of desks that are first come, first serve. The middle of the room houses a glass structure for making phone calls. The back has desks for the Wix Pros (not sure how that works). Free coffee and filtered water.

Thoughts

If I was in New York and needed a place to work, I’d work here.

What is Wix and why is it free?

Wix.com is a web host that offers an easy to use, website creation tool.

My take is that Wix created the office space for startups because startups need websites. If startups use the space then maybe they’ll be more likely to use Wix.com. Seems like a rather expensive marketing tool, but I appreciated it and now I’m writing about it so somehow it worked.
