It’s that time of year where we share gifts with those we love. My favorite part is watching the joy on a person’s face when you know you’ve gotten them exactly what they want/love.
I thought I’d share with you a christmas list of things that I’ve had my eye on this year. So, if you want to see that look of joy on my face you’re more than welcome to send these things my way this holiday season.
As a Mac user since the days of the Centris 660av, I’ve always loved the user experience and hardware that Apple puts out there. My early 2011 Macbook Pro is still great (thanks to a SSD upgrade), but this is the mini-monster I’m hoping Santa drops in my stocking this year.
What would christmas be without camera gear? I’m a Nikon guy, but I’m loving Sony’s move to shake things up this year in the industry. You have the RX100 (which I love) and QX100 which began the shake up.
Sony’s latest, the A7, offers a full-frame sensor in a small package. The quality I get with my Nikon D700 is unparalleled, but I’m always wishing it was just a little smaller (and that it had video). I’m hearing great things about the A7 and A7r and wouldn’t mind trying one out in my camera bag.
I love shooting photos/video and I love driving remote controlled anything. Now you can fly a helicopter and capture video with the DJI Phantom. This thing is awesome.
If you get one, avoid doing what Chase Jarvis did:
I rented one of these lenses for our trip to Alaska a few years ago. The range I got was unbelievable and the quality was pretty good (not amazing sharpness). I’d love to add one of these to the gear bin for my nature photography. The Nikon 70-300 has performed amazingly (very sharp), but I’m looking for something with a bit more reach.
I love the outdoors and skiing is on the top of the activity list. After years of figuring out the best combinations I’ve found the best thing is a waterproof, down jacket. This jacket is awesome and it’s something I have my eye on.
